Meet Mark Neal
Helping leaders lead well without losing themselves in the process.
Mark Neal: Pastor Speaker Author Husband Dad
Speaker, writer, and leadership voice helping people lead with greater purpose, influence, and impact.
With decades of experience in ministry, organizational leadership, and executive coaching, Mark has spent his life helping leaders navigate growth, change, and the challenges that come with influence. His passion is simple: healthy leaders build healthy organizations.
Shaped Through Experience
For years, Mark Neal did what leaders are taught to do: lead, build, grow, solve problems, carry responsibility, keep moving. And it worked, right up until it didn't.
From the outside, the ministry was thriving. On the inside, something was quietly coming apart. Mark discovered what he now tells every leader he coaches: people rarely lose themselves all at once. They drift. Calling slowly becomes identity. Responsibility becomes weight. Activity replaces intimacy. Performance replaces presence.
The drift became impossible to ignore during one of the hardest seasons of his life, a season marked by loss, betrayal, and the stripping away of everything he thought he'd built his identity on. Underneath it all sat something older, a wound he'd carried since long before ministry, one that had quietly shaped his ambition without his realizing it.
Somewhere in the middle of that collapse, Mark hit the bottom of his own striving and found a phrase that would reshape everything: full surrender equals no defense. He stopped protecting his image, explaining himself, and holding it all together on his own strength. He let go.
What came out of that surrender wasn't a return to how things were. It was something new, a way of leading rooted in abiding rather than achieving, presence rather than performance. That conviction became the foundation for Clarity Leadership Collective and for The Soul of a Leader: the belief that no leadership strategy can compensate for a starving soul, and that the most important thing any leader will ever lead is their own.
Today, Mark helps leaders recognize their own drift before it costs them what it nearly cost him, and learn to lead from overflow instead of exhaustion.
Beyond the Stage
Mark and Lori have been married for nearly 30 years. Together they've raised three kids: Stephen, Jonathan, and Hailey. Stephen and his wife, Lexi, made Mark and Lori grandparents two years ago with the arrival of Murphy, who Mark will readily tell you is his favorite person in the world.
When he's not on the road, you'll find Mark on a golf course, at the grill, or planted in front of a fire pit with family and friends nearby. He bleeds Georgia Bulldog red and black every fall and never misses a Boston Celtics game if he can help it.
